Find the right boiler

Operation and maintenance

  • How many degrees should the storage tank be heated to?

It’s not the temperature that’s key, but the amount of water heated. The tank is heated from top to bottom and the fill is monitored by a graph on the display.

  • What temperature should I set the boiler to?

With a storage tank: it is ideal to run the boiler at maximum temperature in order to charge the tank to the highest possible value and then radiate heat for as long as possible.

Without storage tank: the temperature can be reduced according to the type of connection and heating needs, the boiler will try to maintain the set point.

The temperature is factory preset and should not be changed unless specific installation conditions require it.

  • What do I control with the rotary knob in the BLAZE NATURAL PLUS boiler?

The rotary knob on the front panel is used to control the boiler output. Adjusting the setting adjusts the amount of air supplied by the fan – less air means slower combustion and lower output, more air means more intensive combustion and higher output. The modulation range is approximately 30-100%. The knob control is useful, for example, during a transitional period when you need to run the boiler at reduced output.

  • What is the approximate annual consumption of wood/pellets?

Fuel consumption depends on the size of the building, its heat loss, the quality of insulation and also the type and quality of fuel. You can get a rough idea in our case study here: [link].

  • If I fully load the boiler, how long will it burn?

It depends on the power of the boiler, the volume of the combustion chamber and the actual heat demand. The realistic active burning time is usually 4-8 hours, depending on the type of wood and chimney draft. If the boiler is connected to a storage tank and the system is properly designed, then the heat from a single load can supply the house for up to 24 hours, but this is no longer the burning time, but the time it takes for the heat to be gradually released from the storage tank.

  • What do I need to look out for during operation to extend the life of the boiler?

Use dry fuel, clean regularly, observe operating temperatures, service as instructed in the manual.

  • Which components require regular servicing to maintain the warranty?

In order to keep the warranty valid, it is essential to regularly service the key components of the boiler, especially the burner, heat exchanger, sensors and fans. Inspection and maintenance must be carried out by an authorised service technician in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and applicable standards.

  • How often do I have to service the burner?

Pellet boilers must be serviced at least once a year by a certified service technician. For gasifier boilers, servicing is not mandatory, but regular annual servicing is recommended to maintain safe and efficient operation. Regardless of boiler type, an annual chimney inspection by a certified chimney sweep is required.

  • How often must regular maintenance be carried out?

Basic maintenance – such as cleaning the heat exchanger and combustion chamber – is carried out by the user as required. You can find practical tutorials on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_w38HTNS0-E&list=PLRHsFZw01yz6fFgQZ_nR2TYhRgAK6F1jC&pp=gAQB

    • Wood-fired and combination boilers: regular cleaning of the turbolator with the cleaning lever, not forgetting the back plug and ash collection.
    • Combination and pellet boilers: in addition, they require regular annual burner servicing by a service company. An annual service and confirmation in the burner service booklet is required to maintain the warranty.

Model range and technical differences

  • Is the BLAZE HARMONY INOX model more durable?

Yes, thanks to the stainless steel storage chamber, the boiler is easier to clean, its lifetime is longer and thanks to the larger volume the chamber can hold more fuel, which extends the burning time and increases the comfort of the operator. In addition, the chamber is replaceable.

  • What is the difference between BLAZE GREEN and BLAZE PRAKTIK?

The main differences are in the power output, the design of the furnace and the method of control. BLAZE GREEN 18 operates in the range of 9-18 kW (33 cm logs), while BLAZE PRAKTIK 17 offers 5-17 kW (25 cm logs). BLAZE GREEN 26 has a larger volume of the feeding chamber (logs up to 50 cm), BLAZE PRAKTIK 25 is more compact (logs up to 33 cm).

  • Why do the BG26, BG33 and BP40 boilers have different outputs when they are dimensionally identical?

The differences are in the internal design (length, number of channels, whirlpools). Each model is designed and certified for specific performance and emissions.

Installation and sizing

  • Does the pellet boiler have to be connected to a storage tank?

It is not compulsory, but highly recommended. Accumulation tank:

    • increases the comfort of operation,
    • prolongs the life of the boiler,
    • reduces the number of times the burner is lit, which increases its lifetime and reduces the frequency of maintenance.

👉 We recommend at least a smaller tank – a certified heating engineer will suggest the exact volume for your system.

  • What if the big tank doesn’t fit in my boiler room?

    There are several solutions:

    • use more smaller tanks or place them outside the boiler room,
    • choose a boiler model that does not require accumulation (e.g. BLAZE PRAKTIK or BLAZE NATURAL PLUS).

👉 The volume and connection options will always be checked by your heating engineer – this includes ensuring that the residual heat is safely removed.

  • Can I use a smaller storage tank?

Yes, but it may mean less comfort for the operator. A smaller tank may not be able to hold the energy of a whole load of wood – you need to add more often and keep a closer eye on the heat extraction.

👉 Example of minimum storage tank volumes according to boiler and fuel capacity:

    Boiler type Softwood Hardwood
    10 kW 450 l 750 l
    18 kW 750 l 1250 l
    26, 33 kW 1200 l 1850 l

Note: In case of a single connection, the value must be increased by 10-20 %.

  • How big a storage tank do I need?

The general rule is: 1 kW of boiler output = 55 litres of tank volume.
BLAZE HARMONY boilers are certified power controllable, so they can be connected with or without a smaller tank. This option must always be consulted with a heating engineer.

👉 For more information on storage recommendations, please refer to the instructions for each model. INSTRUCTIONS

  • How do I find out what boiler output I need?

The correct capacity is determined by the heating engineer according to the heat loss of your house. This ensures that the boiler performance is neither oversized nor undersized and ensures smooth, efficient and economical operation.

  • Is it necessary to have a chimney liner?

A chimney liner is not mandatory but is often recommended. A cold chimney without a liner may have a worse draft. While modern boilers have an exhaust fan, the liner greatly increases the certainty of proper operation.

👉 The suitability of a chimney is always assessed by the chimney sweep responsible for its condition.

  • Can I install the boiler myself?

The installation must always be carried out by a certified heating engineer – this ensures correct wiring, safe operation and warranty coverage.

Combustion

  • Can I burn oats/corn/legumes in a pellet boiler?

Only certified wood pellets may be burned in the boiler.

  • Does the wood have to be dry?

Yes, a maximum humidity of 20% is recommended (standard). Dry wood ensures higher efficiency, lower fuel consumption and fewer emissions. Modern boilers with a lambda probe can automatically control the combustion, the combustion air helps pre-dry the wetter wood to make it burn as long and efficiently as possible.

  • Is it possible to heat with coniferous wood (e.g. pine)?

Yes, coniferous wood can be used, but due to its higher resin content it is recommended to alternate it with hardwood. This will improve combustion efficiency, reduce fouling and extend the life of the boiler.

  • What types of wood can I burn?

Dry, clean and free of impurities – hardwoods and softwoods are suitable. Hardwoods (e.g. oak, beech, hornbeam) burn longer and have a higher calorific value, while softwoods (e.g. spruce, pine) are suitable for quick burns.

Our boilers are the first on the market with a patented three-way air supply to the gasification chamber. This system ensures even fuel combustion and quality burning of wood of different species and sizes.

In addition, thanks to the pre-drying air, the boiler can reduce the moisture content of the fed wood to the ideal value. Even if the wood is not perfectly dry, the combustion remains efficient, with minimal emissions and maintaining high efficiency.

  • How long will the embers last?

Approximately 12 hours, but up to 24 hours can be achieved with proper installation.

  • How long does one dose burn?

The burning time depends on the boiler output and the type of fuel. It usually lasts 3-5 hours, after which the boiler maintains heat by means of a glowing stable layer. With the correct setting, the staghorn can be maintained for up to 12 hours.

  • Will one filling of the boiler warm the entire storage tank?

In most cases, yes, but it always depends on the volume of the storage tank, the boiler output and the actual heat consumption of the building.

  • How often do I need to add to the boiler?

The frequency of reheating varies according to the size of the building, its heat loss and the installation method. Usually it is sufficient to apply 1-2 times a day. Thanks to the storage tank, hot water can be heated in the summer for a whole week with one application.

BLAZE HARMONY’s patented technologies (e.g. stator, special design of the feed chamber and precise combustion control) ensure a long burn time, high efficiency and comfortable operation with a minimum of work.

Cleaning, maintenance and service

  • Where can I get spare parts?

At a trained service partner or directly through the BLAZE HARMONY sales department – orders at: prodej@blazeharmony.com.

  • What is the service life of the fittings?

Refractory fittings are consumables. Their service life depends on the intensity of operation and the type of fuel.

  • What needs to be cleaned on a pellet boiler?

    • Burner – clean once a year by a heating engineer or service technician.
    • Ashtray – collect ashes approximately once a week.
    • Rear boiler chamber – check and clean regularly, approximately 1 time per month
  • What all needs to be cleaned on a wood-fired and combi boiler?

Regular cleaning of these parts is important for proper operation and long life of the boiler:

    • Turbulators – turn the lever 3 times before each application, ideally at each flooding/addition.
    • Exchange chamber – collect ash after approximately 3-4 loads (depending on fuel type).
    • Area behind rear fitting – check at least 2 times a month, clean and vacuum if necessary.
  • How is the boiler cleaned?

According to the instructions for each series and model. YouTube videos are also available.

  • Do I have to service the boiler? Pellet? Combination? Gasification?

Gasifying boilers do not require mandatory annual servicing, regular cleaning is sufficient. For pellet and combination models, annual servicing by a certified technician is required for warranty purposes. Also, don’t forget to have the burner serviced regularly, which needs to be done once a year.

Backup power sources, power outage

  • How to choose a UPS?

Add up the outputs of all devices (pumps, valves, fan). UPS output must be equal to the sum. Higher battery capacity = longer operation.

  • What happens if the power goes out?

    Protection options:

    • Gravity circulation: open circuit and appropriate tank location required.
    • Cooling loop: opens valve if temperature exceeds 97 °C.
    • Open expansion vessel: allows release of overpressure at boiling.
    • Backup power supply (UPS): keeps the pumps and fans running.
  • Can the boiler work without electricity?

No, the boiler needs power. Some emergency modes (e.g. gravity circulation) are possible, but with limitations.
